Limited funding may be available to individuals for classroom/occupational skills training, On-the-Job training and E-Learning.
Classroom training typically takes place at area schools including BOCES, Adirondack Community College, Hudson Valley Community College, Schenectady Community College and Bishop's Truck Driving School.
Areas of study include Licensed Practical Nursing, Medical Transcription, Medical Assistant, CDL-A Truck Driving, Computer Applications and Computer Networking. Training agencies and training programs must be on the Eligible Training Providers list. Must comply with the SWW Training Policy for Demand Occupations
On-the-Job Training is a program that places individuals with local employers where they receive training while earning a paycheck. We are currently looking for businesses who would like to be considered as a worksite. Participating employers are eligible for up to 90% reimbursement for wages paid to a trainee during the training period. E-Learning is self-paced on-line learning which is offered through New York Wired and Metrix Learning. The Metrix E-learning catalog contains over 4400 courses including 400 Medcom healthcare training courses and over 4000 Skillsoft training courses that include software applications, business and finance, IT skills and industrial areas. The Metrix system also includes an assessment component called Prove-It which validates skill mastery in over 900 areas.
