Job Search
Your local One Stop Center can assist with your job search efforts. Come in and browse our job listings, use our job related reference library, meet with our professional Employment Counselors or take advantage of the following: Informational workshops on a variety of job search and workforce topics. These are usually half-day sessions open to the public provided by both our own staff and guest speakers. See informational workshops above for more detail. Visit your One Stop Center to explore the following: You can access the Job Bank that lists a variety of jobs that employers have listed both locally and nationwide, take part in employer presentations or recruitments, or find information about upcoming job fairs. You have access to computers and the Internet, copier ,phone and fax to assist with your job search efforts. Software that can assist with your resume or help you make a career decision.
A variety of reference and resource materials, financial aid information and referrals to other agencies are available to assist you with your needs.
Key elements for a successful job search include the following:
- Know yourself and what you have to offer to an employer.
- What jobs may be a good match for your individual skills and abilities
- Understand the local labor market, what jobs are in demand, wage rates, local employers
- How to create an effective resume and communicate what you can offer to an employer
- How to prepare for and handle an interview
- How to identify possible job openings
- And other effective job search tips
