Glens Falls Recreation Department

Several openings for summer 2007 for high school and college students, and adults looking for temporary employment. 
Positions available are:  qualified lifeguards, lifeguard supervisors, swim instructors, recration attendants, and recreation leaders.
Positions are full time from mid-June through Labor Day.

Fort William Henry

  • Start hiring at age 14, summer employment
  • Required to attend employee seminar and their manager provides training
  • When youth comes in to fill out an application they look for maturity.
  • Youth fill out an application; human resource staff debriefs them, and the director talks with them.
  • Applications are accepted anytime but the best time for summer employment is April - May.

Hannaford

  • Will hire at age 14 with working papers. 14 & 15 year olds only for bagging, 16 & 17 year olds for bagging and cashier
  • They will hire for summer or year round depending on the youths schedule.
  • They do training.
  • They are looking for maturity, customer service skills (outgoing), and appearance.
  • The youth would fill out an application and return it to customer service or complete application on-line. Then there is an interview if human resources likes the information on the application.
  • Applications are accepted anytime, kept on file for 1 year, but only referenced back 3 months.
Price Chopper

Upper Glen St., Glens Falls

  • Hire age 16 & up, can work year round
  • They do training
  • Application can be picked up or on-line

Lake George

  • Occasionally, hire age 16 & up, but preferably age 18 & up, because there are too many restrictions for 16 & 17 year olds.          

Grand Union

Chestertown - Hire youth in the summer, can apply in May

  • Age 15 - carts & bottles
  • Age 16 & up register

Bolton - Hire youth in the summer, can apply in May

  • Age 15 carts, bottles, garbage removal, some stocking
  • Age 16-17 same as 15 plus register
  • Age 18 & up stock shelves, work in deli or produce, can do any job in a store

Warrensburg

  • Hire youth in the summer, can apply in May
  • Age 17 & up can do any job in the store

North Creek

  • Hire year round, can apply anytime
  • Age 16-17 cashier, stock shelves
  • Age 18 & up any job including deli and meat departments

K-Mart

Hire year-round, can apply any time

  • Age 16 & 17 cashiers
  • Age 18 & up cashiers, any job in the store

WalMart

  • Hire age 18 & up

Dunkin Donuts - Upper Glen Street

  • Hire year round (after school, weekends, summer), they train
  • Age 14 & up with working papers to wait on customers, be a runner, cashier, cleaning, and drive thru 

Cumberland Farms

  • Hire age 18 & up

Mr. B's

  • Hire 1 or 2 15 year olds for the summer
  • Hire at least 2 16/17 year olds for the summer and part-time year round
  • Training is provided.

Great Escape

  • Hire a limited number of 14 & 15 year olds for food service, parking lot attendant, games & gifts
  • Hire age 16 & 17 year olds for lifeguard, rides, foods, retail, games

Lake George Steamboat Company  & The Boardwalk Restaurant

  • For work on the boats and in shops on land: hire ages 14 & 15 for parking lot attendants, food & beverage runners (busers on the boat); dishwashers; gift shop; snack bar attendants; dishwashers
  • Hire ages 16 up for deckhands & jobs above
  • Hire ages 18 up for waiters & bartenders
  • Open May 1st; weekend work in the fall and spring and all summer
  • The Boardwalk Restaurant: bus persons, dishwashers; dock boys & girls; dress code for employees- white shirts & black pants
  • Training is provided
  • Applications may be picked up at the Steamboat Office Mon-Fri from 9-4 pm or can be mailed
  • Applications may be available at area schools, check with your guidance office
